The world lost another fashion icon, Manfred Thierry Mugler, who passed away at the age of 73. He will be remembered for his ethereal, futuristic designs that dominated the European runaways in the 80s. His designs were true art pieces, one of a kind.

Through his creations, he gave women power and a strong attitude. His shows were theatrical compositions, with performances of many legendary artists such as James Brown and Diana Ross.

The Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris is currently hosting his major retrospective exhibition Thierry Mugler: Couturissime, already displayed in Rotterdam and Munich, featuring 150 of his creations created between 1977 and 2014, including a dress from the collection Chimère which was once the most expensive haute couture dress in history.

Thierry has “changed our perception of beauty, of confidence, of representation and self-empowerment,” said Casey Cadwallader, the creative director of Mugler.
