The Mess team is pleased to feature the work of Wanda Martin, a London based photographer working in the fashion and music industry. I found Martin’s work when perusing Charles Jeffrey’s Instagram page. I immediately fell in love with ‘All Tomorrow’s Parties,’ a series featuring beautifully romantic punks wearing Jeffrey’s LOVERBOY, shot by Martin. In the same vein of LOVERBOY, Martin has shared a beauty series with us. To preface these eclectic and ethereal images, Martin provided us with her bio.
“Having graduated with MA Hons. at London College of Fashion in photography, her clients include Sony Music, Atlantic Records, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Diesel or Pretty Green, and her editorial work was published in magazines such as Wonderland, Vogue IT, Vogue Portugal, Numero Russia, Hunger, commons&sense and KingKong magazines. She is originally from Hungary, she also graduated with BA Hons. at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Fine Art Photography and at Eotvos Lorand University Budapest in Aesthetics, Film History and Theory. These studies deeply inspire her up until today in her personal photo projects such as ‘Nights Out’ documentary series published on i-D, and ‘Lovers’ series on DAZED digital. Wanda Martin worked with artists such as Sergei Polunin, ballet dancer, and musicians Zara Larsson, Sean Lennon, The Horrors, Eagles of Death Metal, Sundara Karma, Slowthai or Fat White Family. She draws her main visual inspiration from historic paintings of the 18th-19th century, that she mixes with the themes of her key interests of Gender Studies, Identity, Youth Culture, Subcultures and Rock’n’Roll.”
