A/W 2015 Accessory Style Inspiration

It may still be mid-summer but the fashion world is looking forward to Autumn/Winter season style on the runway. With this in mind we contemplate how a bag- the ultimate accessory- can transport your look, allowing you to get ahead of the trend for A/W 15.

The Box Bag

Louis Vuitton, Valentino, Lanvin

Featuring across many collections the box bag is one of the biggest trends this autumn. Coming in a variety of guises; whether that be coated in smatterings of floral-themed gems at Valentino, minimal geometric forms or the kooky chocolate box offered by Kate Spade. This bag is a total box ticker allowing you to make a bold fashion statement whilst also providing the practicality of a hard shell to keep valuables secure. Whether hitting the town or the shops don’t be without a box bag this autumn!

The 70’s Revamp

Ralph Lauren, Burberry Prorsum

Seventies style made a big-time comeback this summer and is here to stay for winter. Models on the catwalk at Ralph Lauren and Burberry touted the classic 70’s fringe bag. Upgraded for autumn, the festival staple we all know and love now features sophisticated suede in muted berry, rich plum, nude and tan hues as well as burnished gold studded-bead embellishment or tortoise shell chain. Wear with chic flared jeans and embroidered floral top to complete the retro look.

The Textured Trend

Simone Rocha, Fendi, Balmain, Just Cavalli

Because lets face it who doesn’t want a clutch which can double up as a snuggly pillow!? This season bags are set to be texture galore- from sleek black with leather at Simone Rocha to luxe red and gold hardware at Balmain. Adding a flare of decadence to any outfit get ready to channel Monsters Inc. chic! The textured trend is sure to make you stand out in a crowd.

The Girly Go-To

Matthew Williamson, Dries Van Noten, Valentino

Soft mauves, pinks, gems and floral motifs are all part of the lady-like look. Extra style points for an eastern twist as Dries Van Noten features gorgeous Japanese Sakura cherry blossom embroidery; whilst the vivid pink, blue and gold of Valentino has a distinctly folkish eastern feel. Toughen the style up with a leather jacket and boots or go all out feminine in a pussy-bow blouse.

The 80’s Graphic Print

Anya Hindmarch, Moschino, Prada, Au Jour le Jour

With 80’s style making a comeback on the catwalks over Autumn this ironic, bold graphic print look shows a side of fashion which is not afraid to have some fun. At Moschino models sashayed down the runway in head to toe teddy bear print; whilst at Anya Hindmarch and Au Jour le Jour designers opted for statement red with high-school throwback logos such as band aids, traffic signs and record disks. If you’ve always cherished a secret desire to be a member of the Breakfast Club and have a sartorial sense of humour this might be the perfect A/W style for you!
