What is Fashion Designer Awards initiative? It was created by Joanna Sokołowska-Pronobis and the main goal is to appreciate and promote young designers. Appreciation isn’t the only prize you can get, because this program offers you internships in the most respected Polish ateliers around the world, with Bohoboco duet and Dawid Tomaszewski among others. Last year’s winner Serafin Andrzejak confessed that given this edition’s prizes, he would love to compete one other time, if only he could… Sounds tempting? Try it yourself next year!
The jury that will decide on who has the potential to go big with their collection is very diversified. Naturally, all of those who offered an internship at their fashion houses have a vote, but then also fashion designers Agnieszka Maciejak and Łukasz Jemioł, TV stylist Dorota Williams, an actress/singer Lidia Popiel, fashion critic and singer Ada Fijał, most fashionable Warsaw dancer Edyta Herbuś, young actress in-love-with-fashion Marietta Żukowska, Andrzej Foder, Grażyna Olbrych and K Mag’s editor in chief, Mikołaj Komar. Quite an impressive company to spend the afternoon with.
Every year the FDA edition has a different theme – this time the designs were supposed to be inspired by 20’s and 30’s. One of the guests was Anna Sieradzka, the author of a very detailed publication “Fashion in pre-war Poland”, who turned out to be 20/30’s fashion encyclopedia! Listening to her telling the story of how the trends changed for those two decades was an honest pleasure. Why couldn’t high school history lessons look more like that?…
One of many partners to a 6th edition of this brilliant competition is Avon. Their “Avon against violence” ambassador, Zofia Ragankiewicz, announced that three young creators will be asked to design prints for T-shirts that will be presented during FDA gala in May.
We’re waiting patiently for the results. Who is going to be appointed as the best of hunderds that wanted to take part in the competition? We will let you know as soon as we have all the informations.
