HOT PICKS FOR THIS WEEK

Four words. Nicole Scherzinger for Missguided! This March, the iconic pussy cat doll singer co-designed a new range especially for missguided.com which features an explosive mash up of sexy leather separates, glamorous cut out jumpsuits and figure-hugging dresses, all in on-trend styles with more arriving soon.  As an ex-fashion design student who appreciates such things, her current collection has really impressed me and unlike some celebrity collaborations, (I’m looking at you Rosie Huntington-whitely for M&S) her pieces are incredibly wearable and relevant to today’s fashion, with the dresses being perfect for a night out, (although they may cause some serious sweats if you’re above a size 12). My favourite garments in particular include a cool black fishnet jumper (which also comes in white) costing just £25 and a pair of faux leather tailored trousers for £35. I imagine these two pieces worn together, alongside some heavy silver jewellery, patent heels with an ankle strap and rolled up trouser hems would make for one seriously hot outfit.

Minnimoo’s boutique is a brand new retail concept which I am very excited about. Trading solely on social networking sites Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, if you haven’t heard of them on a viral-scale yet, you will soon. With pieces starting at just £9.99, free postage on all orders and a free gift with orders over £20, it will soon become your one-stop-shop for all things unique. The range focuses mainly on women’s lingerie, swimwear and women’s wear; and it will become the ultimate hub for all the fashion-loving bargain hunters among us. To order, all you have to do is drop an email to contactminnimoo@gmail.com after going through their range on twitter which you can find on @Itsminnimoo, stating what you want along with the quantity, and then they will speedily get back to you, after which you will then have yourself an on-trend piece for all your summer holidays. Perfect for those on-the- go with a smartphone.  With talks of expanding the range and opening up a new website, I feel it will really go from strength to strength due to the good quality and price of their fashion forward, unique pieces perfect for this summer. Here are a couple of my favourite pieces from this new brand, launching as little as two weeks ago. This is a fashion story if I ever did see it. Ladies (and gents if you’re reading) check out urban outfitters online now to see the most wonderful high street edit of the 90’s trend. Featuring pieces from hit street wear brand Stussy along with the iconic new balance trainers, this collection really gets me hot under this season’s pastel yellow shirt collar. I am itching to get my paws on the vintage leather hat and backpack from UO’s fabulous Renewal range, and do not get me started on the vagabond Lindi Platform Sandals. Absolutely not fashion-related in the slightest (unless you count books as an accessory), but nonetheless as much of a hot pick as ever, this week I have been reading Sylvia Plath’s poems in Ariel (edited by her late husband Ted Hughes after her suicide) and, Sylvia Plath Poems chosen by Carol Ann Duffy. I became infatuated with this iconic poet last year after reading a small piece on her life and purchased a couple of books, read a poem or two then left them under my bed and thought nothing more of them. I reignited my love for her recently when, as a south east Londoner with not much to do when the sun came out, I headed down to the local park with these books in tow. Sylvia Plath makes for an eye opening read, more so when you learn her tragic story and realise her art lives on regardless.  Passionate poems about her love and loss alongside her sense of misfit in life such as You’re, Daddy, and The Rival feature in these books. Get yours now, just in time for your summer reading by the pool, at amazon.co.uk.

Love unique silver jewellery with luxury quality? Move over Pandora, Go to otisjaxonsilverjewellry.co.uk/store now to find delicately handcrafted pieces. This jewellery house stocks bangles, bracelets, charms, earrings (including clip-on for those among us with no holes in their ears) necklaces, pendants and rings. My personal favourite being the Cone duo ring at just £69.75; I can see this piece being my summer staple with all my boho-inspired outfits. Crafted by artisans in Mexico, this jewellery brand is well on its way to gaining major credentials among the fash-pack thanks to its timeless appeal and ethical trade values. But these pieces are not your average off-the-shelf silver jewellery. Fashion forward and direct, this jewellery house was born out of frustration for a lack of unique, modern yet classic jewellery on the contemporary market today. Prices range from £20.00 upwards with aspirational designs such as the Kidney Bean charm and amazing Flow ring (a ring which, by the way, gives a different look depending on which angle you look at it.) With beautiful branded wrapping this jewellery would make the perfect birthday present, (a subtle hint to any of my pals reading this, take note on July 17th). What really stands out about this brand is the way they capture the beauty of the sterling silver as an element and construct this into a unique piece of versatile jewellery which can be worn, essentially, to any occasion. Perfect examples of such include the Bubble half earrings and Wire rings, which are made by weaving together sterling silver meaning each one is unique.

For those who have an I-phone, (and those who don’t, these are just nice to look at) the ultimate range of phone candy has arrived in the form of Skinnydip, an online retailer with the most bling accessories for your phone today. Established in 2010 and based in London, this brand’s phone cases come in unimaginable styles… including red faux-fur.  Prices starting from as little as £5, this hidden gem has really honed in on the current trend for a smart phone, with products being featured in various big-named publications such as Marie Claire and The NY Post. These babies were seen all over at London Fashion Week. Take your pick from the vast range of products at http://www.skinnydiplondon.com/collections/skinnycase

This Aztec style phone case is on sale right now at just £5.00, in keeping with this season’s current global-traveller trend.

This unique red faux fur phone case is £15 and also comes in pastel pink and leopard print!

I love this boxy, fitted black jacket by Weareponymous which you can buy here at http://www.weareponymous.com/products/fitted-black-jacket#_ssp260  for being so versatile. Layer over day dresses in warmer weather for a sophisticated spin, over a glam jumpsuit during a night out to exude an Audrey Hepburn- like elegance, or make like British style icon peaches Geldof and layer this collarless jacket over a turtle neck for a practical and on trend way to tackle our more chilly days of summer.
