On Trend: Monochrome.

This year’s Fashion Week reassured us that amid the bright colours and slogans, black and white is here to stay. Monochrome has always had strong links with the style of the 60’s, designers at FW 2014 brushed off the cobwebs with a fresh new take on the classic look.

It appears that the trend for monochrome is certainly one to keep for Spring/Summer. Impractical as it may seem, an all-white ensemble seems to radiate freshness and modern femininity, yet clashing with black gives the contemporary trend an almost iconic feel. Seen at Iris Van Herpen, Giambattista Valli and Akris, monochrome has rocked the runway this season; models wore strong black and white prints at KTZ LFW 2014 which set the mood for the following shows inspired by the contrasting tones. A favourite of the monochrome trend from Fashion Week had to be the gorgeous black and white tweed jackets at Lanvin’s AW 2014 show which contrasted beautifully with the black on black look displayed.
