Backstage At Balmain’s AW19/20 Show

Balmain felt grungier than ever with his Autumn & Winter 2019/20 collection, with models donning the likes of extreme studded leather jackets, chained headbands and chunky, distressed knits. The makeup was minimal and simple, drawing more attention to the cohesive, multicoloured hair clips and extra-fine detailed clothing. Just in Olivier Rousteing’s signature Balmain style, the colour – or perhaps more accurately, the shade – of the season was mainly black. However, bright neons, denim, greens and purples were splashed into the styles to give the collection some vibrancy and to touch base with some of the upcoming colour trends. Balmain’s notable, extreme embellishment didn’t go unmissed either, as we saw the likes of geometric dresses, skater skirts and cropped jackets take on the distinguishable style.

You didn’t have to see the words ‘Balmain’ printed across t-shirts, leaflets and posters to know this was a Balmain show, as the clothes spoke clearly for themselves.

Well done Balmain, you’ve brought back the studded leather once again!
