The writing was on the wall at Alexander Wang Fashion Week 2014. It was all bomber jackets and slogan tees at the 90’s themed show, the ‘Parental Advisory’ sweats in particular were making a fair amount of noise. With this seasons ‘It’ buys consisting of logo tees and cartoon sweaters, it seems already that Alexander Wang won’t be the only designer going back to the 1990’s. This season appears to be bursting with colour and urban sports styling; it is unsurprising that loud slogans and cartoon motifs are on trend right now. The big nod towards the 90’s had crowds at Fashion Week reminiscing as models strutted their emblazoned apparel down the catwalk, it seems although designers have a lot they want to get off their chest as models everywhere from Philip Lim to Moschino parade the cheeky sayings and shouty slogans.
One thing the walking billboards, head to toe in logo, taught us however, is that less is definitely more with this style statement- wear with worn-out denim or a simple pencil skirt to keep this look defined and elegant, making your message clear to all. This trend is to be handled with care- less said, the better
