Oh those wonderful weekends in Europe. You and your friends or family walking the streets with some of the most beautiful buildings and stopping for lunch at cafes overlooking the city. Venice is no exception; you can spend a whole day getting lost in the little streets with bridges over the canals before you find Piazza San Marco.

But instead of just walking around all day taking photos fro your Instagram, how about turning your trip to Venice into a shopping challenge? The chances are, you’ll be doing a great deal of shopping anyway, something for yourself and something for those at home waiting to hear all about The Floating City. Now, to start the challenge you will need a good night’s sleep, this is where the first 9 hours of the challenge will go, there is nothing worse than shopping when you are sleepy. The second thing is location. It’s important to know where you are and where you’re going. For this, its best to navigate from Piazza San Marco, a beautiful square where you can get some coffee and breakfast. Not far from there, you’ll need to go to Sestiere di S. Marco, which is a street with the most luxurious shops such as Dior, Chanel and Louis Vuitton.

By the time you finished, it will be lunch time. The bags must be heavy and you’ll need a drink, so take a break. But not for long! The next step is to make your way towards Per S. Marco and Salita S. Luca because that is exactly where you will find the high street stores like H&M and Puma. Be careful as these stores are very popular, make sure to have your game face on. The chances are that it’s now dinner time, so it might be a good idea to find a cosy restaurant by a canal.

The challenge is still on! After you’ve eaten, a good idea would be to look through what you have already bought today and see if you missed a present. If you still have a few people on the list to buy a souvenir for, this would be a good time to visit one of many hidden bookstores in Venice. These have a number of beautiful books with history and meanings behind the architecture in Venice. Or, a good mask will make a wonderful gift.
