Paris Haute Couture Week, 62 silhouettes, each and every one of them breathtaking – coincidence? No. There’s nothing coincidental about Raf Simons’ collection for Dior!
The source of inspiration is actually pretty clear – the entire show was a journey through the epoques, starting on the Spanish court with inspiring Diego Velazquez paintings, and ending up with Belle Epoque of 1920’s.
Most stunning pieces would be the silk dresses that opened the show and – my personal favorite – the long coats, taken straight from the court of Louis XIV. The show was staged in a Rodin museum, but the ‘exhibits’ were not at all dated. Modern interpretation of fashion codes from past centuries are an absolute awe that we can bring to the street any time!
This was Raf Simons’ fifth haute couture collection since he took over the Dior empire after John Galliano in 2012, and we have a feeling that he is just warming himself up for the next years of his stunning work! What do you think about his sense of avant-garde?
