Highlights From The Academy Museum Gala 2022

Over the weekend many of Hollywood’s favourites gathered for the second annual Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles. Despite only being the second year for this event, so far it has raised the bar in becoming one of the largest event gatherings for A listers. Tilda Swinton, Hailey Bieber, Alexia Demie, Emma Stone and Jodie Turner-Smith were some of many who graced the red carpet two nights ago. Steve McQueen was honoured with the Vantage Award for his efforts to contextualise and challenge dominant narratives around the cinema. Julia Roberts also, was honoured with the Academy Icon award presented by her longtime friend George Clooney.

One Particular stand out moment was between Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber, the known to be past frenemies, presumingly now friends posed closely together dismissing any whispering fued’s against them. The wholesome moment comes in wake of Hailey Bieber’s recent interview which trended for the discussion of the longterm disrespect and attacks endured by Hailey from fans of the years ago ended relationship between Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber, Hailey’s now husband. Putting the past behind them both stunned and smiled for the evening; Hailey wore a strapless gown from Saint Laurent’s spring/summer 2023 collection while Selena went for a chic, black Armani suit accessorised with dangling silver earrings

Many turned out for the evening of celebrating the museum’s work to preserve film history dressed in some of the most elegant looks of this season. In contrast to the loudness and intricate details of the Met Gala attire, A listers gave their best classic Hollywood looks pulling from archive pieces and recent spring/summer runway collections.
